    Calcium Carbonate

Calcium carbonate is a common mineral compound found in nature. It is also called chalk. It is found in lime, marble, dolomite, eggshells, pearl, coral and in many shellfish. This calcium-carbon compound acts as a source of calcium in the body.

In dietary supplements, calcium carbonate is one of the substances that can be found both as an excipient (white dye with E-number 170) and as an active ingredient in the form of calcium supplements.

Calcium carbonate is permitted for use in vegetable and organic foods as an acidity regulator.

Pharma Nord uses naturally occurring limestone as a source of calcium carbonate.
